Ophthalmology

Eye health is important, because its role in the quality of life is inevitable.

If some eye diseases are not treated early, may cause permanent damage and vision problems. For this reason, it has significant importance to have regular eye examinations and to detect possible diseases in the eyes before they progress. In order to improve your quality of life, even if you do not have any complaints, you should do anuually eye check-up and those who have any complaints about eye health should be examined by Ophthalmologists in this department.

Myopia

In this condition the anterior-posterior length of the eye, corneal refraction, or both are longer than normal, so images of objects will form in front of the yellow spot. Myopia, is a common eye condition that causes objects in the distance to appear blurred while close objects are often seen clearly.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism often occurs due to corneal deformity. Astigmatism is caused by an irregular curvature of the eye's cornea or lens. Astigmatism causes blurry or shadowy (double) vision. Cylindrical glasses are used for correction of vision.

Hyperopia

Farsightedness occurs when your eyeball is shorter than normal or your cornea is curved too little, so the image will form, behind your retina. Both of these conditions may present together. The situation is the opposite of nearsightedness. Hyperopia is usually hereditary. If not noticed at an early age, it causes amblyopia or cross-eye (strabismus).

Presbyopia

Presbyopia is the gradual loss of eyes' lens's ability to focus on nearby objects. It's a natural, often annoying part of aging. Presbyopia usually becomes noticeable after age 40.  As the age progresses, the harmony of the eye lens decreases and disappears. The eye lens becomes more rigid and cannot change shape as easily. Close reading glasses are required for reading.

Amblyopia

Amblyopy, the medical term for lazy eye, is a vision development disorder in which an eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity even with prescription glasses or contact lenses.  This condition often occurs due to strabismus or the difference in refractive between the two eyes. Early diagnosis and treatment of amblyopia can help prevent long-term problems with your child's vision. Recently, neurovision (eye amblyopia treatment) can be achieved to a great extent in adulthood.
